Tips for saving $$$ on homeowners policies:
Raise your deductible – just raising it from $250 to $1,000 can save you up to 30% on your insurance premium.
Combine your insurance – Buying your home insurance and your auto insurance through the same company can save you as much as 25% each year.
Protect your home – Installing dead-bolt locks, fire alarm/burglar alarms, window locks, security lights and sprinkler system can get you a minimum of 10% discount.
Insure your home only – Make sure you are insuring your home and not your home and your land. There are several less reputible companies out there that charge for covering your land. You cannot actually insure your land, just the things on it.
Age discounts apply from the age of 40 and above.
Non smoker’s discount – Most insurers give discounts if everyone in your home is a non-smoker.
Claims free discount- Each additional year of being claims free, can amount to 40% savings.
Loyalty discount- building a continual track record with one insurance company may allow you to benefit from this discount.
DON’T BE AFRAID TO ASK FOR ANY OR ALL DISCOUNTS BECAUSE YOU MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR 80% SAVINGS.
